“Oikos” is the Greek word for “household”. A Graeco-Roman household contained not only several generations of the same family, but also included people who worked in your house and their families, your friends, and even people you come into contact through everyday life. Essentially, Christians shared their faith with other members of their “oikos”, and thus people came to faith through a network of relationships.

Not only church history, but modern research has shown that the vast majority of persons come to faith through the witness of a friend, relative, or colleague — not through massive programs or campaigns but through personal relationships.

Oikos is a new social outreach for young people, run by young people.  We would like to run up to about 6 events and would like young people aged 13 to 18 that would like to organise these events with support of leaders. We see this as an exciting new initiative that can play central role in building bridges with young people in our area, but also to foster fellowship amongst young people in Knock.
