July 2008 36 Adults and Young ...
In the 2nd week of August we run a cross community sports camp with young people in P5 to 4th year. The Game of three halves sports camp was introduced in 2006. The camp gives young people from all over the East Belfast the opportunity to play Rugby, football, hurling and Gaelic Football in association with Irish Rugby Football Union, Irish Football Association and Ulster GAA. The week provides an excellent opportunity to promote sport and culture bringing together the rich traditions from Ireland’s wide array of sporting interests. Offering 80 young people the opportunity to be coached by some top quality coaches through 3 coaching sessions each day with the coaches running through drills and challenges for the boys and girls. On the Friday we conclude the week with a combined sports tournament with the young people playing each sport with guest speaker giving out awards to the boys and girls. It is truly an enjoyable week for all who take part leaders and young people. It demonstrates that one small step can help bring people of different backgrounds closer together.
